The mission of Henry's Original is to provide quality cannabis in the support of freedom and celebration of American revolution — most important, the cannabis revolution. Lofty mission aside, this is a company with a unique brand, and its CBD Ritual 20:1 strain is an unusual product, since a CBD-based flower isn't the easiest to find on the market.
Because of its CBD focus, Ritual is a good choice for those not looking for a foggy head high. For experienced smokers, this will be a solid option for social smoking rituals of their own, as they'll be able to smoke this for a while without feeling like they've gone too far.
Overall, Mendocino-grown Ritual feels clean all the way through. It is easy and smooth to take in, with a sweet taste and thick smoke, and will provide a mellow, clear high that still allows smokers to maintain focus and not miss out on the experience.
“Our products are ‘Clean Green’ certified,” said Henry’s Original co-founder Jenna Meister. “That means no harmful pesticides- we use natural farming methods like neem oil and essential oils. All of our products are lab-tested by third-party labs, and are responsibly farmed to ‘organic’ standards. Our Henry’s Original Ritual CBD pre-rolls offer a more healthful option for smokers. CBD continues to be widely recognized for its potential benefits, including anti-inflammatory and anti-anxiety effects.”
According to an article published in MerryJane about Hindocha’s study, 30 nicotine-dependent smokers were asked to abstain from smoking cigarettes overnight, and randomly assigned to groups that would receive either a 800-milligram dose of CBD or a placebo. Each of the smokers was then shown a mix of cigarette-themed and neutral photos while researchers measured their attentional bias. Researchers ultimately found that the smokers who took the placebo paid more attention to the smoking-related images than the participants who received CBD.
CBD pre-rolls offer a more chill option for nervous nicotine users who still smoke
A 2013 study published in Addictive Behaviors pointed to CBD as an alternative for cigarette smokers who are trying to quit. The study found that smokers who were given a CBD inhaler reduced their cigarette consumption by 40% compared to those who were given an inhaler. Taking the study a step further, Chandi Hindocha, a doctoral student at the Clinical Psychopharmocology Unit of University College London, conducted his own study based on the 2013 findings.
“Unlike the anxiety sometimes associated with high levels of THC, (the psychoactive compound in cannabis), CBD has non-psychoactive,” Meister added. “If anything, it promotes a relaxed sense of well-being without any concern of getting ‘too’ high, which makes CBD a great choice for people who want the smoking experience but want to move away from cigarettes. On top of being CBD-rich, the terpenes in our CBD strains feature notes of eucalyptus and hops, giving them an earthy, herbal flavor.”
More alarming statistics about tobacco use aren’t surprising. The National Cancer Institute says that out of 7,000 known chemicals in cigarette smoke, 250 of them are known to be harmful. But what if there was an herbal alternative shown to reduce stress and inflammation that could still be enjoyed as a satisfying smoke?
